Chatting TF3D with Somerset's Head Physio Jamie Thorpe
TAUNTON, UK: Masuri caught up with Somerset County Cricket Club's Head of Science & Medicine, and Lead Physiotherapist Jamie Thorpe to discuss the impact of TF3D for their professional players.
In an interview during the 2024 pre-season, Thorpe talked about the new technology and it's benefits for both players and support staff:
"...Any tech where you are trying to make it bespoke to a player, whether that be any protective equipment, I think is absolutely imperative."
"If you get that perfect fitting then we're less likely to get some of that shaking within the head that we know potentially causes concussions when they do get hit by the ball."
Thorpe was looking forward to the roll-out of the tech to his playing group ahead of the season.
"...For player safety I think this is the biggest move forwards from a technology point of view, and I think it's absolutely warranted."
Somerset's matt-finish maroon helmets were on full display across the season, showcasing the TrueFit technology as well as sleek new painted designs.
With the 2025 County season approaching, Somerset's new Female program will also benefit from the custom helmets Masuri provide.
